's Zomers kan de struik rijk bloeien, zoals hierboven te zien is. De bloemkroon is dan lichtrose. Later in het seizoen bloeit de plant wat minder, maar de bloemen worden meer zuiver wit (zie foto's onder).
In summer the plant can be very free-flowering, as is to be seen in the photo above; flowering declines a bit in the autumn, but the colour becomes more pure-white, as you can see below.

   

Deze winterharde struik kan meer dan een meter hoog worden en leent zich evenals andere soorten F. magellanica wel om een haag te vormen.
Als het flink gaat vriezen sterven de takken wel tot de grond af, maar in het voorjaar komen er weer jonge spruitjes boven de grond die vrij snel tot nieuwe takken uitgroeien. Bij vorst is het wel raadzaam, de wortels wat af te dekken met turfmolm of een laag bladeren.

This winterhardy bush can reach over 1 m and like other kinds of F. magellanica it is suitable to make a hedge.
In frosty winters the branches die down to the ground, but once spring comes new shoots will come out of the ground and grow up to new branches rather quickly. It is advisable to protect the roots of the plants against frost by putting a layer of peat-litter or dry leaves on them in winter.
